Lockwood Folly Country Club

Lockwood Folly Country Club is a 460 acre waterway Golf Community located on the southernmost coast of North Carolina where the Lockwood Folly River meets the Intracoastal Waterway. Nestled near Holden Beach, midway between bustling Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and historic Wilmington, North Carolina, Lockwood has 2 miles of shoreline.

Lockwood Folly could be called the gem of Brunswick County in Eastern North Carolina. The intersection of the Lockwood Folly River and the Intracoastal Waterway make it nature’s habitat. Many species of birds and fish are to be found in and around the community, and Holden Beach is less than 5 miles from the gates of Lockwood Folly Country Club.

Lockwood Folly Country Club is a semi-private member-owned club with memberships available. Passionate golfers have the choice of many golfing packages. Golf Digest has named Lockwood Folly as a Four Star “ Place to Play”. Lockwood Folly has been voted “The Best Golf Course in Brunswick County” in 2012, 2013 and again in 2015, while placing second in 2014.   Golfers have breathtaking vistas of tidal estuary, moss covered hardwoods and stately pines as well as river and waterway views. Tree lined and non-parallel fairways afford a sense of seclusion and serenity while you play in cool comfort. The course is a par 72 with six tee options ranging from 3922 to 6657 . The greens are modern Sunday Ultradwarf Bermuda and the slope ratings range from 113 to 140.

If golf isn’t your passion, our tennis courts beckon. Fishing fanatics find friends to share their interests. Lines are cast from our fishing dock or from owners’ boats in the waterway and ocean which is just minutes away. A spacious boat yard for storage and a private boat launch make your boating experience easy and convenient. Our spacious pool overlooks the waterway with a panoramic view of the barrier islands and the ocean beyond. Sit back, and relax as you take in the local ambiance as shrimp boats pass by.  If you choose to just rock and read, the view from the Clubhouse porch, pool deck and waterfront picnic area is awesome. For those who love to walk, bike or bird watch, Lockwood is a nature lover’s paradise —where man and creatures live in perfect harmony. You’ll see graceful dolphins waltz in the waterway. Eagles make appearances from their nests. Herons, ibis, an occasional red fox and our favorite friendly fox squirrels delight us daily. For the more adventuresome– canoeing, kayaking, clam-digging and crabbing are activities to explore. And for pure relaxation, escape to our uncrowded sandy beaches just 5 minutes away.

Lockwood is distinctly different from some of the larger communities near Wilmington and Myrtle Beach.  It’s remote location and classic low country setting form an oasis of charm and tranquility. It is a community that has a cozy, comfortable and congenial atmosphere where you find new friends whom you feel you’ve known all your life.
